Introducing our latest feature that allows you to dive into the world of fasting, learn more about it and integrate it into your Lifesum experience. Fasting is a completely new part of the app where you can choose from existing fasting intervals or setup your own.

Note! This is a premium feature.

Where do I find it?

By default, fasting is at the top of your diary when you open. You can then choose to learn more about it or simply remove the feature. If you have removed the feature and would like to re-enable it, you can do so by going to Profile -> Settings -> Diary Settings -> Fasting. There you can choose whether or not to show it in your Diary and whether or not to have it at the top.

How does it work?

If you click on 'Explore Now' as shown above, you will be taken to the fasting information screen where you can read more about the benefits and challenges of fasting. You will then learn more about the stages of fasting, before choosing your plan and setting a start/end time.

Use the fasting timer to tell you when to switch phases and see when your body is in fat-burning and ketosis. Get notifications to help you stay on track with your fasting schedule.

What fasting plans can I choose from?

At the moment you can choose from 12:12, 14:10 and 16:8 as our preset intervals. You can also set your own interval by selecting 'Custom fasting interval' (but please note that this is a Premium feature).

  • The custom fasting interval is great if you want a flexible fast that fits into your daily routine.

  • The 12:12 interval is the most balanced fasting interval. It is great for those who want to stop late-night snacking.

  • The 16:8 interval is suitable for those who wish to skip a meal during the 16-hour fasting period, and it also fits well with our 16:8 Meal Plans (Morning Fasting and Evening Fasting).

  • The 14:10 interval allows you to put your body into ketosis while still eating at least 3 meals a day.

What are the different fasting stages?

When we fast, our body goes through different stages. Remember that your body is unique, and these phases may start at other times depending on your health, activity and environment.

  • 11-12 hours of fasting - Fat-burning stage

When the body has used all of the available glucose from the food you have eaten, it starts using its fat reserves as fuel.

  • 12-14 hours of fasting - Ketosis

The body enters the stage of ketosis. The body is now fully running on body fat as fuel, turning the fat cells into ketone bodies in the liver, which are then used as energy.

Can I end my fasting before the time is up?

Yes, you can stop your fasting window 1 minute after you started. Just note that this will activate your eating window and that you may not reach the fat burning stage or ketosis if you end it too soon.

Can I remove Fasting from my Diary page?

Yes, you can remove it by pressing on the three dots in the top right corner of the fasting card from your Diary or by going to your Diary Settings and toggle it off from there.

Who should not fast?

Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any diet, especially if you have any health condition or concerns. Children and teens under the age of 18, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, people with tyo 1 diabetes and those with a history of eating disorders should not fast.
