How do I start tracking my sleep in the Lifesum app?

Android: You will find this feature under the Progress tab in the app. There you will see the following screen and will be able to set up Lifesum to Health Connect if you have not already done so. 

When connecting to Health Connect you have to give Lifesum access to your sleep data in order for this feature to work. 

iOS: You will find this feature under the Progress tab in the app. There you will see the following screen and will be able to set up Lifesum to Apple Health and allow Lifesum to read your sleep data. 

What does the different colours in the graph indicate? 

  • Deep: This is also known as slow-wave sleep and is characterised as a complete relaxation of the muscles. It is the stage when the body restores itself. 

  • Light: Also called core sleep. We spend about half our time asleep in this stage, which helps our bodies relax and recharge. Light sleep has many benefits such as improving our motor skills and learning.

  • REM: REM sleep typically occurs about 90 minutes after falling asleep. REM is the stage when most of our dreaming happens and helps develop memories. 

  • Awake: The time it takes to fall asleep and when we wake up throughout the night is described as "awake" in your chart. 

  • Sleeping: When stages aren't available you will see your sleep duration represented as "sleeping" in your chart.
