What is it?
Any foods with high amounts of essential vitamins and minerals get this label in the food rating.
Why do we need high nutritional value?
These vitamins and minerals are needed for a lot of functions, such as blood clotting, bone density, sight, skin, and mucous membranes, protein metabolism, and nerve function, to name a few reasons.
Antioxidants, usually found in foods with high nutritional value (vitamin C vitamin E, riboflavin, selenium, zinc for example) protect your cells against free radicals.
What if I have too much?
It's hard to over consume foods that have this label. Most of the time people aren't eating enough vitamin and mineral-rich food like fruit and vegetables. What you should be careful with is taking each mineral or vitamin by itself, as with supplements, as there is a risk for overconsumption. Follow the guidelines on the package if you're taking vitamins and minerals as supplements.
